A narrow peninsula on the Baltic between Rostock and Rügen, with forest, dunes and a long open beach, and the Bodden lagoons on the landward side. Part of it is the Western Pomerania Lagoon Area National Park, where cranes gather in autumn. Campsites are close to the beach, often in the pine forest.
