About camping in Harz
The highest mountains of northern Germany, with the Brocken at 1,141 metres, across Lower Saxony, Saxony-Anhalt and Thuringia. Campsites are mostly by the reservoirs and in forested valleys, and narrow-gauge steam trains run up to the Brocken. The area is drawn by district, so it also includes some open farmland around the foot of the hills.
